The Battles of Lexington and Concord were the beginning of the Revolutionary war. It was the very first military engagements between the two groups.
The Declaration of Independence is the document that proclaims that we are the "United States of America" and want nothing to do with the King.

September 19th, 1777
The Battles of Saratoga were a huge turning point for the war. They were marked as the climax of the war, giving a decisive victory to the Americans.
December 19th, 1777 to June 19th, 1778
Valley Forge was another turning point in the war. During the harsh winter, supplies were short, but the troops came back stronger and disciplined.
The Battle of Yorktown was planned by George Washington and was the final blow needed to win the war, and the British surrendered.

September 3rd, 1783
The Treaty of Paris was signed in Paris by representatives of both sides. The Treaty of Paris was the document that officially ended the war.
