Louis XVI had a huge debt from supporting the american revolution and he need to raise some money so he decided to tax the 2nd estate. The 2nd estate called him to a meeting of estate generals May 5 1789
The 3rd estate was angry because they wanted a bigger vote the king refused and the 3rd estate declared themselves a national assembly. the 3rd estate meet in a tennessee court and took an oath called the tennessee court oath to not leave tell they drew up a new constitution. June 20 1789

During the great fear there were riots across the countryside members of nobility and clergy rose to give up their noble privileges. In one night, feudalism was destroyed in France The A mob including the King’s own soldiers stormed the Bastille (prison) and poured through the gates killing the guards. Later that day the 7 prisoners were released
