- in 2014 Alexey belan and karim baratov were hired by the Russian federal serurity service to hack YaHoo to get imformation on high profile people
- I think i have just been hacked i think someones taken everyones names passwords and security imformation
- They sent a phishing emails to all of Yahoos employees with a malware download link because all it took was for one employee to click the link to get imformation like Names, phone numbers,security questions and answers as well as password recovery emails anda cryptographic value unique to each account were copied by the Hackers
- somebody has clicked the link and we have 500 million peoples names, Phone numbers and security imformation!!
- The email was sent and at least one employee did click the link that let the hackers inside the network they found user data bases and the internal tool that were used to alter the data
- Dear customers there has been a breach of data now that has effected over 500 million users
- All of the imformation for over 500 million accounts imformation has been leaked to the hackers
- The hackers used the imformation to get details on specific users that had been requested by the russian hackers they couldnt manage to search for users so had to use recovery emails
- Yahoo had to let there customers know that there was a breach what they did was invaladate forged cookie that can no longer be used and encrypted security questions that can no longer be decrypted answers can also no longer be linked to email accounts
