Storyboard Text

  • You must research a building in Toronto.
  • Can we be in partners?
  • Yes.
  • Yaaaaaaaay.
  • I want to do the CN tower.
  • Why.
  • It is an important part of our city and it would be interesting to learn about.
  • Oh, I forgot the CN tower is in Toronto. Ok, I guess we should start researching.
  • Wow. Did you know the CN tower was built in February 1974 but they began construction a year earlier?
  • No. Did you know it took 1500 workers to build the CN tower?
  • The CN tower is symmetrical.
  • Did you Know that before the CN tower became a tourist attraction its main purpose was for telecommunication?
  • Wow, I never would have guessed the CN tower is mainly concreate and steel.
  • It also has glass.
  • Really? Where?
  • The elevators, glass floor, and windows.
  • Ohhhhhh, hahahha right.
  • Do you know what kind of structure the CN tower is?
  • I think it is a shell structure because it is hollow.
  • Yeah, but it is also a frame structure because it has beams and other parts inside. Oh, and don't forget that it is also a solid structure.
  • Then it must be a combination of all of them.
  • Oh, I did not know that was a option.
  • Aren't you surprised the CN tower is still in perfect condition?
  • Not really. It is really strong and stable.
  • Yeah, its shape gives it a lot of stability because of the wide base that gets smaller as it goes up.
  • And it has metal anchors that hold up post-tension cables whatever those are.
  • They are cables mostly used in construction using a lot of concreate.
  • I guess it makes sense that they used it in the CN tower since it is mostly concreate.
  • They use it so that they can have longer distances between support columns.
  • Oh, I think I read that somewhere. They put steel strands inside of concreate pillers to reinforce them.
  • Okay, time for you to present.
  • ok.
  • But a couple of things we think make the CN tower esthetically pleasing are that it is symmetrical, tall and has lights.
  • Esthetics is something that depends on the person.
  • Thank you for listening.
  • Ten minutes later.
  • Great presentation.
