  • Boston Massacre, 1770
  • Join or die was America's first political cartoon. Benjamin Franklin drew it. It was based on the myth that if a chopped up snake was put back together, it would come to life.
  • Boston Tea Party, 1773
  • The British Imperial Policy was the Stamp Act, Sugar Act, and Townshend Act, all put together.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill, 1775
  • Kill Them, My Soldiers!
  • A fight broke out between the soldiers and colonists, and even though Captain Prescott said to hold fire, the soldiers didn't hear him, and they shot five colonists.
  • Declaration of Independence 1776
  • The colonists dressed up as American Indians and boarded the Dartmouth, throwing tea into the ocean. It was a rebellious response to unfair tea taxing. They dumped 342 chests of tea into the ocean.
  • A patriot is said to have given the famous order, " Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes!"This means that because the muskets back then were inaccurate, they had to get close to try and make it more accurate.
  • One day, the Congress asked Thomas Jefferson and four other people to write a declaration of independence. Congress needed a document to say why the colonies needed to become independent of Britain.
