  • Hello, My name is Zechariah, son of Berechiah and grandson of Iddo. I am a prophet of God, and walk this earth preaching his word to his people. I am a latter minor prophet which means that I am in the Prophetic Literature Books and I watch events and teach the rules of God through prophecies.
  • It is now 520 B.C. and we are ruled by governors. For many years, the people of our nations have turned against God, and in return they have lost everything they have loved. I knew things had to change, but I didn’t know what to do.
  • Then, God came to me in my dreams and said, “If you do a favor for me, I will do a favor for you.”. God wanted me to preach to his people to be good and do good, and in return he would rebuild our temple, that was once destroyed in our city.
  •
  • -Then, God came to me in my dreams and said,
  • “If you do a favor for me, I will do a favor for you.”
  • God wanted me to preach to his people to be good and do good, and in return he would rebuild our temple, that was once destroyed in our city. God was to give me directions in how to change his people back to good, loving people through a series of dreams.
  • The first dream came to me in the second year of Darius during the eleventh month. In the dream, there was a man on a red horse with three horses standing right behind him.
  •
  • I asked the man who the horses were, and he replied,
  •
  • “The horses have been sent by God to patrol the earth.” An angel appears near the trees, and asks the Lord, “When will you rebuild our temple?”
  • These words brought hope for me and his people.
  •
  • -The lord said, “ I am filled with anger because of my people who have given me nothing but hate, but I will rebuild the temple in hopes of a better future. “
  • I then had a second vision with four horns, four craftsmen, and an angel.
  • The angel said, "These are the horns that scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalembut the craftsmen have come to terrify them and cast out these horns of the nations who lifted up their horns against the land of Judah to scatter its people" (Zech. 1:18b, 21).
  •
  • This was great news! The angel's words meant that God wanted to reunite the nations that have been torn apart for so many years.
  • Another dream came to me shortly after. In it, there was a man measuring an area to see if the city of Jerusalem would fit.
  •
  • The angel said, "God will rebuild the city without walls, for he will be the walls that protect the nations and the glory that is within."
  • I continued having many dreams. God spoke to me through my dreams and told me what I should do. In my next dream, I saw the nations united as one, under a priestly ruler, and cleansed of any wrong in the land.
  • In my fifth, sixth, and seventh dream, God explained to me how he was the light and source of all seven nations of the world, and how we should handle sin and wrongdoing in the new land.
  • I then had my eight, and final, dream. In it, there were four chariots come out from two bronze mountains
  • The angel said, "These are the four spirits of heaven, going out from standing in the presence of the Lord of the whole world. The one with the black horses is going toward the north country, the one with the white horse towards the west, and the one with the dappled horses toward the south" (Zech. 6:5-6).
  • I believe that the colors of the horses represent: red = war, black = death, white = victory, and dappled = sickness.
  • It was finally time for the temple to be rebuilt, but the people were still sad about the first one being destroyed. I asked them to turn away from their bad ancestor's ways and to turn to God and the new kingdom.
  • "Therefore tell the people: This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'Return to me,' declares the LORD Almighty, 'and I will return to you,' says the LORD Almighty."(Zechariah 1:3)
  • Although most of God's plan had been worked through, I still had one more bit of news to deliver to his people. One day, a Messiah by the name of Jesus would come to save his father's people.
  • Jesus would first come on a donkey, be betrayed, and be crucified, but all for the good of the people. Jesus will also come again for a second time and stand on the Mount of Olives just East of Jerusalem.
  • Zechariah 14:4 "And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south".
