- Mark comes back from MIT with a mission for the AMT team. Make the NPS Principles ideas a reality. The team thought that this would be easy considering where the ideas originated.
- Right great news NPS board have come up with 5 great ideas from our meeting in MIT. Go make it happen
- Excellent this exactly what we should be doing
- Timm was the first to setout to make this supply chain visualisation idea a reality. He thought that this would be straight forward given who the idea is from.
- Hi Roger has proposed an idea based on technology he was excited about during a visit to MIT. I have been tasked to work with you to develop further.
- No response received
- Several phone calls later, Timm was able to make contact with John. On the other side of the phone, John had other issues to deal with and so was concerned about taking on any more work
- Hi yes, just a few minor issues to deal with at the moment so don't really have time.
- Meanwhile Patrick and Timm buy the augmented reality prototype for the second idea, Patrick builds it and brings people to see and...he strikes gold
- Wow..this would be fantastic for our Africa 2020. How quickly would it take to deploy?
- Meanwhile Timm bring the augmented reality idea to a plant to look for potential applications; crashed and burned as people couldn't see the potential
- Not sure how augmented reality would help us here in the factory. Can't think of any situations where that would be of benefit.
- If we can't integrate it with SAP, it won't work
- Timm then proceeded to seek interest on the supply chain visualisation idea with the group responsible for supply chain modelling.
- “Everybody is stretched really thin so we just don’t have the resource to support development of a planning model.” Followed almost immediately by: “I think there are lots of off-the-shelf packages to do planning models so we could do this in house instead of using MIT”.
- After a couple of failed events, Timm decides to check in with Mark. Timm then uses this own network and contacts the Jurong site Director.
- How did you get on with Jurong?
- Excellent, the site leader is really supportive and wants to progress with this as he had considered the potential application previously.
- As the team come back together, they share their journeys in getting an idea actioned in GSK and laugh that the experience is like playing Innovation snakes & ladders - "2 steps forward 1 step back all the time"
