- *ANGRY BARK*
- "I ran, hearing the dog growling and Lynnie grunting." This scene demonstrates Katie's innocence. Katie ran away from the fight while Lynn stayed and fought. even though katie came back later with a bottle she still didn't hit the dog, she threw it next to the dog.
- as Katie's uncle shot the rabbit Katie screamed about her favorite stuffed animal demonstrating her innocence. An older person wouldn't scream about their stuffed animal when an animal was getting shot. A younger person wouldn't know as much as a more mature person so they wouldn't be as desensitized by death and all that stuff. Katie's view of the world is so innocent and she thinks that everything is all rainbows and happiness but that bunny would've been eaten by something else if not them
- when Katie is talking to her sister in bed before the first day of school Lynn mentions that Katie might experience some racism but Katie doesn't even know what that is. everybody knows what racism is it happens almost every day for them but Katie is so innocent that she doesn't even see people treating them differently.
- Katie's parents ran out of money and had to move away but Katie doesn't even notice. Katie is literally leaving the world that she knows but she acts like it's nothing.
- Katie's sister, Lynn, gets very sick. Lynn gets sick which is really bad since their parents don't have a lot of money so they can really pay for health care but Katie just doesn't really notice.
- Katie moves away from all of her friends and family since her parents ran out of money. Katie's not even sad about it. grant it she did cry in the car but that was because she didn't have her stuffed animal.
