  • OER offers educators free, adaptable, and current teaching materials, reducing the risk of financial barriers for both teachers and students when accessing instructional resources. Some ways that teachers use OER is when they use short videos from YouTube, customize teaching material on Canva, or even provide PDF links for textbooks to avoid having students go through the struggle of purchasing textbooks. OER is beneficial to use because it prevents students from stressing about purchasing learning material and instead allows them to focus on the actual material itself.
  • What about OER, how do we benefit from implementing that in our classroom?
  • How can UDL and OER be used together?
  • Look that poster provides us with a great explanation over there.
  • UDL and OER form a powerful combination as they both focus on promoting inclusive and personalized learning experiences. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) aims to create learning environments and tasks that cater to the diverse needs of every student. Open Educational Resources (OER) are the invaluable content reservoir that educators can draw from when designing these flexible learning experiences. UDL ensures that teaching methods and materials accommodate various learning styles, abilities, and preferences, while OER provides adaptable, cost-effective, and often up-to-date resources to support these differentiated approaches. Together, they empower educators to craft engaging, equitable, and student-centered learning journeys, ensuring that all learners have access to high-quality educational materials that meet their individual needs.

  • Something I took away on these two topics was learning to accommodate to each students learning needs and being able to access online resources to do so without an extra cost. I understand that every student learns differently whether it be visually, hands on, or even auditory. As a future educator I will ensure to use these online free resources to ensure my students succeed without breaking the bank.
