  • Hello, thank you for taking the time to complete this important training! Here at Inspired Teaching, our first priority is the students. That is why we have developed what we call the Student Culture System or SCS. Discipline is one of the hardest parts of a teacher’s job, but it’s vital to ensuring a safe and productive learning environment for all students. Inspired Teaching has developed SCS as away to aid teachers in this difficult part of their job
  • did you go to the football game last week?

  • SCS consists of four levels of discipline based on the student’s infraction. We have organized these into groups for you to create a better understanding of what a proper response is.
  • 2-3
  • First, we will talk about Level 1 behavior. Level 1 is the lowest level and this sort of behavior can be handled discreetly within your own classroom.
  • Student Culture System(SCS)
  • Narrator : For example, a student may distract the class by speaking to their seat partner loudly and out of turn

  • Teacher: Alright, I know you’re getting a little distracted, but if we get through this material quickly you’ll get some time to chat at the end of class.
  • This was a great example of a Level 1 response. This teacher used positive group correction to get her class back on track. Some other Level 1 responses include anonymous redirection and silent signals to a student to change their behavior.

  • Now, we can talk about Level 2. Level 2 includes escalated behavior that requires more intervention.
  • Level 2
  • Level 1
  • Level 3
  • Level 2 behavior can include damaging school property or throwing an object with intent to harm. This sort of behavior requires the teacher to transition the student out of class. The student should be transferred to your buddy classroom and the class should continue as planned.
  • Next, Level 3 includes much more serious behavior that requires intervention by administrative personnel. Teachers should not deal with this behavior on their own and should seek aid.

  • Consistent fighting and gambling or possession of items related to gambling require a Level 3 response. Administration is prepared to help teachers when these serious behaviors are occurring at our school. It is important to report this behavior in a timely manner so that we can maintain a safe learning environment for all our students.

  • Finally, Level 4 is the most serious level and requires intervention by the principal.
  • 4-1
  • Level 4 behavior can include sexual assault or physical aggression with injury. Due to the serious nature of these behaviors they need to be promptly reported to the principal.
  • Inspired Teaching’s goal is to create a safe learning environment for all students and staff. SCS is important to maintaining balance within our school. We want to help teachers and students alike. If you are unclear on SCS protocol or want more specific examples please refer to the handbook on our school website or contact administrative personnel.
  • The next time you have to discipline a student please consider SCS and carry out the appropriate response. Remember, discipline is an important part of productive learning and this system is in place to help you.
