Twas the night before Purim and little Isaac was so excited to dress up, receive gifts and have a big feast the next day.
Isaac was in his room thinking about his costume when he heard the doorbell ring.
He ran down the stairs as fast as he could and shouted, "Grandpa David is here!"
When Isaac opened the door, Grandpa greeted him with a big smile. Isaac was so excited because he had been waiting all day to show Grandpa his Purim costume.
When he told Grandpa to come upstairs with him, Grandpa said, "Wait Isaac, do you even know why your wearing a costume tomorrow?" Isaac answered, "No Grandpa, I just love to dress up!" "Oh Isaac, that's not what the true meaning of Purim is", Grandpa said.
"Come sit on my lap", said Grandpa, "so I can read from the Book of Esther to the family so you can learn what Purim is all about".
A long time ago, there once lived a King and a Queen who ruled in old Persia.
One day, the Queen did not follow the Kings orders so he banished her from the kingdom.
The King felt lonely in his castle all by himself so he held a contest to look for a new Queen. All the young women in the town were invited to participate.
A young Jewish girl named Esther won the contest and she became Queen. Although she never told the King that she was a Jew.
Queen Esther lived happily alongside her King not knowing there was an evil presence lurking around. His name was Haman, a wicked Jew hating man, who was the Prime Minister of the Empire.
