- As bud not buddy is on his way to Grand Rapids to look for his father, a man notices bud and stops the car, the man tries to help bud by asking him were his home is, bud lies saying he escaped from Grand Rapids fortunately the man was heading there so he decides to take bud with him.
- Chapter 15
- Bud thinks Herman E. Calloway, a Band leader, is his father, then Bud tell Herman E. Calloway that he is his father, the Band gets surprised and thinks that there is no way that Herman E. Calloway can be his father.
- Chapter 18
- Bud cries on Miss Thomas lap feeling that he is finally where he belongs and having the feeling of not being alone anymore.
- Chapter 19
- Miss Thomas let Bud stay in a little girls room in which the little girl was gone, for bud it was really bad news.
- Bud show Herman E. Calloway the special rocks he kept from his mom, Mr. Calloway then takes them off Bud 's hands thinking he had stolen them and asks him where he got them from the he said he got them from his mom named Angela caldwell.
- Steady Eddie gave Bud a gift in which was a saxophone, Bud gets exited telling the band that in three weeks of practice he'll be just as good as the band, the band laughs and Bud goes to he's mother's room and starts to practice.
