  • The French and Indian War was fought between the colonies of Great Britain and France. They were fighting over the land in the Ohio River Valley. A peace agreement signed in 1763 that ended the Seven Year War. The British was in control of a large area of North America, but other issues were upon the British. 
  • First Continental Congress - 1774
  • No More Intolerable Act!!
  • The Boston Massacre was a street fight that occurred on March 5, 1770. A patriot mob was throwing snowballs, stones, and sticks at the British soldiers. Several colonists were killed and this led to a campaign by speech writers to angered the citizens.
  • “Shot Heard ‘Round the World” - 1775
  • The Boston Tea Party was a protest by the American colonists against the British government. The colonist staged a protest by dressing like Native Americans and boarded ships and threw the cargo of tea overboard. This fueled the tension that had already begun between Britain and America.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill - 1775
  • The First Continental Congress met in Carpenters Hall in Philadelphia. All of the colonies except Georgia sent delegates. The Congress demanded the repeal of the Intolerable Acts, declared the right to tax and govern themselves, and trained militias to stand up to British Troops. They decided to meet again in May 1775.
  • On April 19, 1775 British and American soldiers exchanged fire in the Massachusetts town of Lexington and Concord. A system of signals and word-of-mouth communication set up by the colonists was effective in forewarnings American volunteer militia men of the approach of the British troops. The British were controlled by the colonists and were forced back to Boston with Americans firing on them. .

  • The Battle of Bunker Hill was a fight against the British and Americans to inquire Boston. The Americans won the first and second attempt, but lost the third attempt. The Americans ran out of ammunition. The British won the battle but had more than 1,000 killed or wounded, which was a moral boost for the Americans.
