- When the Goodman's car automatically starts, everyone becomes suspicious of Goodman because everyone's power is out. They assume that he has something to do with what's going on to Maple street.
- Fear can turn human beings into monsters
- When the crowd heard about Steve's ham radio set, they were quick to think that he was talking to aliens. instead of thinking they thought he was talking to aliens.

- Charlie shoots Van Horn before he knows who it is. If Charlie would've waited to see who it was, Van Horn would still be in the play and they would not be blaming everyone.

- Everyone on Maple Street are scared of what's gonna happen next. They keep blaming their neighbors on Maple street because they are scared.
- After Charlie shoots Van Horn, he quickly tries to blame it on Charlie because he knew a lot about aliens and read space comic books.
