The battles of Lexington and Concord marked the beginning of the American Revolutionary War. The Battle of Lexington began on April 19, 1775. The British wanted to destroy America's supply of weapons and capture John Hancock and Samuel Adams. The British won this battle in the end.

On June 17th in 1775 in Charlestown Massachusetts, the Battle of Bunker Hill commenced. Although America lost, they proved in this battle that they could hold their own against the British. This battle proved that America and Britain could no longer reconcile.

Washington had come up with a great plan - attack the Germans the day after Christmas when they would be too drunk and hungover to fight.
