A long time ago there was a cunning and selfish crocodile who wanted to have everything for himself. Iguana, who is his friend, is his complete opposite. He is kind, generous and considerate of others.
During the dry season there was a severe drought that caused famine around the community. The leader assigned Crocodile and Iguana to distribute the food packs.
Crocodile thought to himself “I will hide half of this food packs for myself, so I won’t grow hungry until the drought ends”. So, he hid the food packs in his house without Iguana knowing.
I will hide half of this food packs for myself, so I won’t grow hungry until the drought ends
The following day when they were to distribute the food, Iguana noticed that Crocodile had only a few food packs with him, so Iguana asked, “Why do have so few food packs?” Crocodile said smiling “I kept half of it for myself”. Iguana was shocked that crocodile can do such terrible thing. The last of the food packs they gave it to Lizard and Snake. Lizard said “Do you still have more? There are many more who have not received food.” and Crocodile said, “there are no more food packs, sorry.”
Do you still have more? There are many more who have not received food.”
There are no more food packs, sorry.
What is that terrible smell?
Later that day, after distributing the food packs crocodile invited Iguana to come over to his house. When they arrived at crocodile’s house, they smelt a putrid stench. Iguana said, “What is that terrible smell?” The worried crocodile ran inside the room where the food packs were kept. There he saw the rotting fruits and vegetables that he was supposed to eat. He sat down on the floor feeling sad. “My food is gone! What will I eat now Iguana?” Iguana said “I will share my food with you.
Oh no Iguana what will I do now?
Next time, don’t just think about yourself, we could have given more food to other people who are hungry” The Crocodile realizing what he has done repented and said “ I am sorry I should have not been selfish and thoughtless. We could have given more to those who were hungry.” This story shows that being selfish and self centered not only affects others, but it also affects our dignity as a person. This story reminds us “To not be selfish or greedy”.
I am sorry I should have not been selfish and thoughtless. We could have given more to those who were hungry.
