- this was the Sara's new world thoughts brewing. She felt to stand of her own which was against her parents' old country values. she could see America around her was not what her father believed. she thinks her parents domination and role on their children was wrong, not helping her life ,but theirs.

- At this point, Sara's brewing thoughts are not anymore silent. on one hand it is hard for her father to understand values outside his old country where Sara is determine not to live under his tyranny because she knew that he will marry her off , an old man with few bucks. this is connect to theme of clash between old and new

- Sara stand for herself. Also she tried to make her father understand that she can have her own personal wishes . however father is always uses the lenses of Torah, which seems it is not applying young ladies bright future. finally this connect to the them and grand truth that sara will not observe her jewessness.
- I thought that in America we were all lost. Jewishness is no Jewishness. Children are not children respect for fathers does not exist. and yet my own daughter who is not a Jewess and not a gentile - bring me a young man- and whom? an American p 293.
- during her burial, again Sara defies traditional nonsense rituals in front of her family and people who came to say bye to her dead mom. this really shows Sara relies on reason and logic rather than her parents old country tradition. again , this is solid new country values that resisted old country values.
- Sara see there is not way it could make her father understand her values, but they both understood she was american and lived like americans and he was traditional and religious man.
- the grander truth was that they are father and daughter who like they from different world , and have different values and uderstand of the world that let sara become successful lady which is against her father's wish. and woman who is not married. this their clash
