  • On a bright sunny day a boat named Wave walker was sailing peacefully in the sea.
  • In July 1976, the narrator, his wife Mary, his 6 year old son Jonathan and his daughter Suzzane

  • The first day of the journey was normal but on the second day out of cape town, the weather began to show dangerous changes. The size of the water waves went up to 15 meters which was alarming. for the next few weeks the weather showed no improvement.
  • The impact injured the narrator and as he regained his consciousness and got hold of the boat wheel, he realised that water was everywhere on the boat. He handed over the wheel to his wife Mary and went on to look for his children. He saw his daughter Suzzane was badly injured. The pump which was pumping water out from the boat was also broken, but luckily narrator found an extra pump on the boat which worked perfectly. As the situation settled the narrator realised that no one was answering their mayday day calls on the radio.
  • On 25th December the family was 3,500 km east of Cape Town. Till the morning of 2nd January also the weather showed no improvement.On the same evening at 6 p.m. the narrator noticed something terrifying. A huge wave form the sea hit the boat and broke some parts of the boat.

  • When I went inside to comfort the children, Jonathan asked me, Dad are we going to die? When I tried to assure him he continued, Dad we're not afraid to die if we can all be together....
  • After being optimistic for so many weeks finally their patience helped them to survive and experience such an adventurous journey.
  • After days and weeks of struggle, finally a hope came into light as the border of the Ile Amsterdam Island came into sight. At that time for the family it was the most beautiful piece of land they had ever seen.
