  • Remember the Alamo! - 1836
  • For Santa Anna!!!
  • Santa Anna led his forces in the Alamo killing prominent people like James Bowie, William B, Travis, and Davie Crockett. The 200 Texans fought back to hold the fort but they all got killed. They did this because they believed Texas would become independent.
  • REMEMBER THE ALAMO!!!

  • Andrew Jackson Signed the removal act and, the Cherokee were forced to move to Oklahoma at gunpoint. The USA needed the land from the Louisiana purchase because it needed to be settled. This was called the Trail of Tears.

  • From the perspective of France this was significant because they got money to fund the Great French war effort, but they moved out of the United States, making their influence and power smaller. From the perspective of the USA this was significant because they doubled their influence and power while removing France as a neighbor, and the USA did not want to get dragged into the war.

From the perspective of the Mexicans, the Alamo was a victory, but the casualties were heavy, and that is one of the reasons why they lost the war.From t
  • The 7th Cavalry Soldiers at wounded knee shot and killed 150 - 300 Lakota people. The Massacre was the turning point for the US efforts to eliminate the plains Indians. Some people think this was revenge for the regiment's loss at little bighorn. The Massacre Happened near Wounded Knee creek hence the name.
  • From the Perspective of the USA this was significant because, it made the land clear for settlers, but it also started many conflicts and fear with the indigenous people. From the perspective of Cherokee this was significant because, they were forced off their sacred lands through harsh environments and onto reservations; something many Cherokees didn’t survive.
  • Wounded Knee Massacre - 1890
  • The Oregon Trail went through Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon. This also meant it went through many native American tribes land, so this caused skirmishes between the US and indigenous people. People traveled the dangerous trail to settle in "open" land. The US cleared out the Sioux but, the Sioux did not go down without a fight. The settlers and even the military took up the duty of killing Native Americans. Finally, Oregon was settled
  • From the perspective of Indigenous People, the Oregon trail brought disease and settlers; both killing off many indigenous people, making way for the US. From the perspective of the United States of America, the trail paved the way for the US to expand westward and to fulfill manifest destiny by “stretching from sea to shining sea”.

  • From the perspective of the USA, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was significant because it increased their power and reach, giving the United States more influence and resources. From Mexico’s perspective, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo took away 55% of their land; it made them lose influence and power over theirAmericas territory.

  • James Polk "declared war" on Mexico over a little skirmish so the US could take Mexico's territory in the Americas. After 2 years of fighting Mexico who has had trouble with money and turmoil, surrenders. Mexico and the US sign the treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo which gives the US Mexico, California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, most of Arizona and Colorado, and parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, and Wyoming .
  • From the perspective of the USA this was a turning point because the massacre marked the end of Indigenous Peoples resistance to the encroachments of white settlers on their land. From the perspective of the Native Americans, this was their last straw in the conflict as it broke their effort of organized resistance and assimilation.
