- Abbas Ibn Firnas was born in Ronda, Spain. Ronda is a mountain top city founded in the 218 bc.

- Ibn Firnas was a very religious man. He lived in Cordoba, which was the learning center for Muslims
- Abbas Ibn Firnas was influenced by Armen Firman who tried the first attempt to fly by jumping off a minaret of the grand mosque in Qurtuba.

- Ibn Firnas was a Berber tribe member. The tribe was led by Tariq Bin Ziyad, who conquered Spain. Muslims had control over Spain for a real long time.

- Ibn Firnas love for astronomy helped him design a mechanized planetarium that had revolving planets. The moving planets move in relation to each other as they do in the universe.

- The Meqat is a timepiece that measures time by the flow of liquid in and out of it.

- Ibn Firnas made various offers in the field of astronomy and engineering. he invented a device to detect the motion of the planets,stars, and universe.
- I wonder how the planets move. Maybe one day I will fly to the sky.
- If I can figure out how a machine works, I can definitely figure out how the universe works.
- Ibn Firnas learned how to make clear glass out of sand and stone. Abbas realized that clear glass could be used to correct vision. Ibn also invented the reading stone.
- He experimented with crystal quarts and sand to create a transparent glass of high quality. The high quality glass was made to drink water out of.
- Reading stones are similar to glasses except it has to be placed on the paper to magnify the words
- Ibn firnas also learned how to cut rock crystals like quartz. A method only known by the Egyptians at the time.
- Armen Furmen jumped off the grand mosque wearing a fabricated wooden frame and silk. the contraption made him fall and get some minor injuries. That was the world's first parachute attempt
- Ibn firnas was the first man ever to successfully fly. Ibn firnas was the first to try to fly even before the twin brothers.

- In 875, Abbas Ibn firnas made his own flying machine. The machine was made out of a bamboo frame covered with silk cloth. The cloth had feathers sewed in to it.

- The machine had a harness whereby he can control the movement of the wings.
- Ibn Firnas accomplished a flight of 10 minutes by flapping his wings up and down. Unfortunately, Abbas was not ready for landing nor did he know how to land.
