how did the live of white people and former slaves change after the civil war was over?
yes, Roberto my grandfather told me that story it was very sad because very innocent people died but thank God after all that nightmare ended the lives of both white people and slaves from the south, it changed.
Daniela, do you remember what life was like for white people in the south and for former slaves after the civil war was over.
Yes, that's great but also with the fifteenth amendment it established that every citizen had the right to cast their vote whithout being impeded by reason of their race, color or condition of slavery.
Exactly, Daniela thanks to the thirteenth amendment slaves from the border states and those from the southern parts that were in the hands of the united states were freed in December 1865.
Yes, you're right the economy changed after the civil war crop production, shared cropping systems and labor agreements took their place, however southern people didn't believe those agreements were very fair.
All that is amazing, but Daniela what about the economy in the south, what happened to the economy in the south?
Oh it's horrible, but the construction period that took place after the civil war had great potential to extend rights and rebuild a war-torn south but the end results was far from good. people struggled a lot to be able to really be equal.
Wow! that is very interesting but things unfortunately change in 1877 laws were promulgated and applied by Jim Crow that allowed the separation of blacks and whites. That caused the hatred to grow more.
Like me I really liked this conversation bye and take care, see you later.
