The Raven and The Duck By Ms. Buckson
In a forest near a beautiful lake, Ibis and Duck lived as friends. Duck enjoyed living a fun life, but Ibis was afraid to try new things.
"Ibis, come on! Come out of the tree and play in the water."
"Duck, you know I cannot leave my tree. I am too afraid."
"Come on Ibis. I see smoke. A fire is starting. It is not safe here. Let's go to the other end of the river."
Every time Duck wanted Raven to try something, Ibis was afraid to do it.
"No Duck! I am too scared to leave this tree. You should stay here on this end of the river."
A forest fire started on the other side of the river. But the wind was blowing hard and the fire was spreading. Still, Ibis was too scared to leave his tree.
The fire spread to the other side of the river and Ibis was still too afraid to leave his tree.
"It is too late my friend. I have never left my tree. Save yourself."
"ibis! Please leave your tree. Aren't you more afraid of the fire?"
"I have to leave. Please come."
MORAL Fear can keep you from acting when situations become serious.
Duck could not convince his friend Ibis to leave his tree. Poor Ibis died in the fire.
