- Both tired from a long days work of guarding the Elsinore Castle, Officer Barnardo comes to relieve Watchman Francisco from his shift and send him on his way home.
- Nay, answer me stand and unfold yourself.

- He. Get thee to bed Francisco.

- Watchman Marcellus and Barnardo are determined to show friend of Prince Hamlet, Horatio, the ghost seen walking around in the dead of night, closely resembling the dead King Hamlet. Horatio does not believe what they claim. to have seen.
