- I am a cheese sandwich and this is my journey through the digestive system
- NOOOOO!DON'T EAT ME!!OH WELLI just got chewed by the teeth in our mouth which is where I get chewed and broken down and dissolved by the saliva and enzymes.The enzyme called carbohydrate which is what breaks down the breadThis is called physical and chemical digestion.
- I am now falling down the gullet, which is where I get transported to the acidic stomach.
- I am now in the stomach where it is very acidic. The acid breaks me down even further and absorbs all the protein and fats in me that they need. There is a lot of hydrochloric acid in the stomach which is what is killing all the bacteria in me. This is a chemical digestion
- I don't physically travel through the liver but the it is where it produces bile which breaks down fats. This process is called emulsification.
- I am now in the small intestine which is where all my nutrients are getting absorbed. The small intestine also digests protein and polysaccharides. In the small intestine there is something called villi which carries the nutrients to the blood
