Peak Marcello is caught climbing a skyscraper in New York City and is arrested. The Judge put a probation on Peak for 3 years and $150,000. The judge and peak eventually reached a deal to let Peak move out of New York City and into Thailand with his father Joshua Wood until he was ready to come back home to New York City.
Get Down!
Instead of Peak moving to Thailand with his father, Joshua Wood they travel to Everest Mountain In Nepal in hopes of making it to the summit. Peak meets Zopa who is a Weather Munk and his grandson Sun-Jo. These two people stick along with Peak and Josh on their journey to the summit of Everest. Sun-Jo and Peak become very good friends on their expedition. The two boys stick around with each other through their journey.
Over the course of many weeks in the attempt of reaching Everest's summit, Peak and his posse spend many weeks climbing the mountain and spending nights at camp. The common reference the 4 guys refer to is "climb high, sleep low" . The 4 boys take many weeks climbing to new camps and face many hardships like unhappy climbers and cold weather. Peak and Sun-Jo overcome their drama and learn to be friends again. Peak is still trying his hardest to get to the summit.
It's so cold!
Peak is only a few feet away from reaching the summit of Everest, the tallest mountain in the world. But he ends up purposely not reaching the summit and instead letting Sun-Jo reach the summit to become the youngest person to climb Mount Everest. Sun-Jo and Peak now split up on different paths down the mountain to get back home to their home countries.
Go ahead to the summit without me Sun-Jo!
I'll see you on the other side!
Peak decides to travel back down the mountain with intentions of going back to New York City. Sun-jo, on the other hand travels back down the mountain through a different route than Peak did to make it back to Nepal. Sun-jo goes back to Nepal with intentions of supporting his family now with the endorsement money he'll make for being the youngest person to climb Everest.
TIme to go back to the United States!
Time to go back to Nepal!
Peak finally gets back home to New York City and enjoys spending the time with his Mom, Rolf, and the twins. He reads an article in the newspaper about Sun-jo being the youngest person to climb Everest which reminds him of his time at Everest. Peak realizes that sometimes it is better to put other before yourself when they need it most.
