  • Dear passengers, the boarding time for the flight BA-358 going to Dublin, has been delayed due to some technical problems. The revised gate timings will be announced soon. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. Thank you
  • That’s a right scunner! May and her Brexit is after our lives.
  • *A chorus of birdsong and camera shutters this morning, but storm clouds are on the horizon this week as the beleaguered Theresa May tries to convince the parliament to pass her withdrawal agreement*
  • The Brexit picture still looks squint mate. You are being fooled by the media and the government. The UK trade is going to be negatively affected. The ports would be blocked and our economic prosperity is going to go for a toss. This thing is going all to pot and you need to understand that. Where are you from?
  • Ah nah mate! I might need to stop you here. Why do you think so? Brexit is highly beneficial for theUnited Kingdom.
  • I’m from England. Glad to meet you! At least, now I have someone to banter with. Well, I believe that Brexit is May’s hot shot for the betterment of the state.
  • Oh yes! Otherwise, this wait is going to make my hair turn white. So, you made the Britain exit happen with 52% vote share. English people have ignored the consequences that the rest of the United Kingdom will face due to Brexit.
  • Please speak softly. Thank You
  • Ah my friend, I think you’re eminently unclear with the new policy. Madam Theresa plainly said that the new and improved Brexit deal is going to benefit the whole of UK. The unwanted migration of people into our state is going to stop. That means the people of our state will have a better and a much-secured employment status.
  • Please speak softly. Thank You
  • Brexit is so biased towards the English. It is only going to benefit the residents of England. The Scots largely depend on their agriculture and petroleum industries. Brexit has affected the Scottish trade by blocking the ports and it is leading to a massive economic depreciation in the country. The Banffshire Journal stated that the English people have been favoured more because the extremely Eurosceptic English people have a different legal system.
  • HAHAH
  • I am not very fond of Scottish newspapers, but without any doubt, I can assure you that the accusations made by the so called ‘Banffshire Journal’ are very untrue my friend. Policies are never biased buddy. The revised withdrawal agreement wasn’t written by a bunch of lads who were chundered in the street.
  • He's miffed!!
  • It's going to be tough to handle this ass.
  • It might not be revised by the chundered, but definitely by the ones with Scotophobia. The English ignore the fact that the EU runs a comprehensive regional development fund with deep pockets, investing billions of pounds in the development of the most deprived parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
  • Funding is not a problem here. The egocentric attitude of the Scottish union is crucial to the success of United Kingdom as it leaves the European Union.
  • I hear Theresa May. MadamMay resides in the same neighbourhood as you, doesn’t she? No wonder she got 52% ‘Leave’ vote share. Madam May has always been biased towards the English because she is one of you’ll. The whole of media says so buddy. Now, don’t tell me that it is not true.
  • Well, you realise that the deal is proposed in order to benefit the entire United Kingdom and not justBritain. Don’t you think that you need to be a little more open towards other opinions and perspectives of MLAs?
  • Do you know what the real problem is? The Scottish people have always been ignored in the parliament. In2014, 55% of the Scottish people voted to remain in the UK. Britain’s self-centeredness, ignorance and lack of understanding of the gravity of the situation is going to bring it down sooner or later. Moreover, it only you who will be affected, it’ll be us: Northern Ireland and Scotland.
  • Heid-the-baw
  • *Short Chuckle*
  • Well, I slightly agree with that even though you have made the Scots look like the bad guys. Even I think that media bias and cultural differences play a role in interpretation of different things. Finally, there’s something we both could agree upon.
  • I think the real problem is the lack of media collaboration between the two regions. Scottish media manipulates the English ideas and policy amendments and that leads to rivalry.According to me, your vehement denial for Brexit is because of your culture and outlook towards policies and legal matters.
  • If you notice, the speeches of these political leaders are different in every region because they have to be politically and culturally acceptable to their audience.
  • Yes! Well, I think that they do it so that their audience can hear what they want to hear. Sometimes, to cater to a specific audience, the speeches are biased towards them. The same thing applies for all the newspapers and T.V. channels. They spice up the news way too much to sell their services.
  • HAHAHA
  • No wonder the BanffshireJournal said that ‘The English were too barmy to give 52% vote share’.
  • Ah man! Come on…
  • On researching about the status of Brexit in different regions of the UK, I found that a lot these newspapers, tabloids and T.V. channels have a very biased approach towards various political notions. The Guardian, Financial Times and Daily Mirror are some of the newspaper services in the UK that are in favour of ‘Remain’. Thus, the articles and information that they publish is more likely to beAnti-Brexit, whereas, newspapers like The Sun, Daily star and Daily express are Pro-Brexit- The Sun also titled an article, ‘BeLeave in Brexit’.
  • I see your point. Doesn’t Scotland have a publication called the ‘The National’ who has anti-Brexit views from the root up?
  • Yes, we do.
  • Yes. One of their titles on the front page was- “VOTE DOWN THE BAD DEAL”. I feel that most of our decisions are influenced by these different kinds of media platforms. For example, even if we look at social media- where the today’s young crowd dwells- we can observe these hashtags and memes that go around the internet. The seriousness of the situation is indirectly side-lined as the controversies start erupting on the social media, you understand? Have you watched the Netflix documentary film called the Great Hack?
  • Yes, I have. I totally agree with you on the fact that our thoughts and opinions are, to an extent, altered by what we read, what we hear and what we believe in. And, the main purpose of the media industry is to attract viewers by showing them what they want to see and making them hear what they really want to hear. When it comes to social media, I do think that the Gen-Z are highly influenced by what the celebs tweet or what their favourite YouTubers say…. If we look at the numbers; the percentage of number of people who voted to ‘Leave’ keeps on increasing from age-group 18-24 to 65+.
  • Sure, Mr. Kevin Keegan.
  • Now I feel a little too old to have this kind of a discussion. Let me get back to my ‘Twitter’…*winks*
  • Let’s continue this banter for the rest of the journey. Otherwise, boredom is going to make me go “barmy”.
  • *Sigh*. Scottish people are quite annoying, I must say.
