The warm rays of afternoon sunlight peek through the blinds of a bedroom window. The room is quiet except for the call of birds outside the window and the rustling of paper.

The rays illuminate the immaculately made bed of LOLA SUAREZ (18-25) as she sits surrounded by postcards. A menagerie of memories, of places she's gone and places she wishes to see

Reaching into the box at her side, she pulls out another card.

Turning the card over, she begins to read.

The smile on her face fades as the words begin to blur. Her eyes fill with tears. She keeps reading, only a few words stand out now.

Consumed with what she is reading, she jumps at the ping of the cellphone on her nightstand. The sound pulling her back to reality.

Reaching for the phone
her hand passes a photograph. A group of people with her eyes, her hair, and her skin. They smile back at her. Her family, happy and content
she quickly picks up the phone and reads the message.
