  • My Risk Taker Rosa Parks By: Saniah Lee
  • My birth name was Rosa Louise McCauley and I later married and became Rosa Parks. I was born February 4th, 1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama.
  • Growing up I dealt with racism, and being called very ugly names. Things didn't get better either as I became older.
  • Colored people couldn't use the same restrooms, or eat at the same tables as whites.
  • I continued to deal with the segregation laws. All while undergoing harsh words, and treatment all the way into adulthood.
  • Meanwhile one traveling home from work. All buses are segregated. Which means to the back of the bus for me. I really need to rest my feet.
  • While sitting on the back of the bus I was told to give up my seat to a white person. I didn't do give up my seat and was thrown off the bus and in jail. Then the movement began.
  • I joined Dr Martin Luther King and marched for equal rights, to be treated with fairness, and to end segregation. Creating a better future for children of color.
  • Because of what I did on that bus and stood up for equal rights. It help put an end to segregation and broke barriers for change.
  • I stood up for what I believe and took a risk by not giving up my seat. I am just a "risk taker" in a small globe of change.
