Russia attend World War One as an alliance and the war cost a lot of the money that causes a shortage on the food and social inequality since all the citizens were forced to support the government. Political stagnation and incomplete industrialization decreased the country’s power.
Civil war
On march 8, 1917, about 1000 women demonstrated under the banner “peace and bread” on the street of the capital city of Petrograd. Women need to replace the work of their husband in the factory with no wages , this causes them to be angry and started to repel. When tsar ordered troops to disperse the crowds, many of the troops joined the demonstrators instead. Later then the tsar agreed to abdicate on march 15.
NEP
Lenin returns to Russia and he started the Bolshevik that Stand in the side of “peace , land, and bread”. With all powers to the Soviets contradicting the side of provisional government. Different from the provisional government Bolshevik claim to stop attending on WW1. As Bolshevik party’s member grown substantially they easily took the control of the winter palace in Petrograd. Lenin soon established the council of people’s Commissars ,which held the true power in the country.
Stalin’s era
The Bolshevik takeover promoted a protracted civil war between communist forces and their opponents, who were aided by foreign powers. The Red Army get the victory of his war under the leadership of Leon Trotsky and had better field positions.

The New Economic Policy started at 1921 march leaded by Lenin after the victory of civil war .It was basically a form of a free-market. Peasants were allowed to sell their goods on the open market. Private owner ship of retail shops and other small business was permitted. The state retained control of larger industries, banks, and mines. By 1922 the economy and harvests had improved, and the country was more stable.
Under the plans of stalin Heavy industry was given priority over light industry which caused the problem of livelihood issues were ignored. Living standard is low as worker’s wages fell by 43% between 1928-1940. Stalin also started the collective of agriculture ,eliminating private farm ownership and forcing people onto large collective farms controlled by the state. Most of the crops grown on these farms were sold to the state at a low price.Peasants were allowed to have very small private plots to grow food for themselves .
