- I want YOU For US Army
- Life in the trenches is hard, bloody, and sad. Everything here is dreadful. The war rages around us, and we are directly in the middle of it. Our medics try desperately to heal the injured, but, alas, they cannot save everyone.
- My name is Thomas Bentley. I am a soldier on the frontlines of trench warfare, in World War 1. I have managed to survive so far, but I don't know if I'll make it to the end.
- The only thing that really keeps me going out here is thinking of my family. Back home, my wife Mary is taking care of our two children, Katie and Liam, all alone, providing for the family by herself.
- I just hope this war ends soon. It's not good for anyone, and I just want to go home.

- As I am writing this, I am sitting on an old crate in the trench. I was lucky to be able to even bring this journal, but it helps. I am eating my ration bread, and it is stale and sponge-like. It's alright though. We don't have many resources out here, so I'll take anything I can get.
- They'd put the signs up in the towns, the war had been in the newspaper. President Wilson was trying to keep America out of it, but eventually we joined. I had been drafted and sent straight to the trenches.
