When I signed up to take time class I thought it was going to be both incredibly interesting and fun while still teaching me something and it was exactly that.
Cultural anthropology was already a topic that I enjoyed so I wanted to take a class to go further than just watching random documentaries on YouTube.
I already new some of the over arching topics from Intro to Anthropology but this class went further and explained a lot more details.
Such as the different family structures in the Trobriand Islands where the Father is not considered to be blood related to his children and the mothers brother serves the fatherly role that we know!
I definitely learned things that will help me in the future. Cultural relativism is something that I can take into my everyday life that will help me better understand things that are not familiar to me.
With that, I think that cultural relativism and ethnocentrism are going to to be two major concepts that I'll still remember in 5 years along with all the real life examples we've seen.
