  • Meg, Calvin, and Charles Wallace meet Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which. They say they can help Meg and Charles Wallace find their father, Mr. Murray,who'd gone missing. They also introduce tessering which is a method of space travel.
  • Falling Action
  • Mrs. Whatsit transforms into a beautiful horse-like creature and shows Meg, Calvin, and Charles Wallace The Dark Thing. This is also what Meg and Charles' father are fighting. After that, they go to Camazotz where Charles Wallace is taken over by IT who controls all of Camazotz.
  • Resolution
  • Meg and Calvin find Meg's father. Then all four of them go face-to-face with IT. Just before IT can take over Meg too, Mr. Murry tessers them away but accidentally paralyzes Meg and leaves Charles Wallace who is controlled by IT.
  • They end up on an unknown planet where a creature Meg names Aunt Beast unparalyzes Meg. Then they make a plan to free Charles Wallace.
  • Meg saves Charles Wallace through love which IT has never known and cannot fight. Mrs. Which tessers them home to the twins' vegetable garden, where they are reunited with their family.
