  • Jonathan James, first juvenile who was charged for cybercrime in United states. Between August 23, 1999, and October 27, 1999 James committed a series of intrusions into various systems, including those of BellSouth, Miami-Dade school system, and he also invaded a Pentagon weapons computer system to intercept 3,300 e-mails, steal passwords and cruise around like an employee.

  • His crimes came into light when he hacked the computer of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), a division of the United States Department of Defense by entering through a router in Dulles, Va., and installing aback door for access, he intercepted DTRA e-mail, 19 user names and passwords of employees, including 10 on military computers.

  • In January 2000, Defense Department agents, along with Pinecrest police proceeded an order to arrest James. On January 26th, agents with bullet proof vests and guns raided his home and arrested him . Seized four PC's, a laptop and one pocket computer from the house
  • He was initially indicted for 6 months and later was sentenced for 7months house arrest as he was a juvenile. He was also banned from using computers with MODS for recreational purposes. The legal experts issued statements claiming the James case was proof the Justice Department was willing to get tough with juvenile offenders accused of cybercrime.
  • Later in the year 2007 James was taken as core suspect for few intrusions . Even though he denied these accusations, he was being investigated as primary suspect. On May 18, 2008, Jonathan James was found dead in his shower with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. His suicide was allegedly motivated by the belief that he would be prosecuted for crimes he had not committed.
  • I honestly, honestly had nothing to do with TJX hacking. I have no faith in the 'justice' system. Perhaps my actions today, and this letter, will send a stronger message to the public. Either way, I have lost control over this situation, and this is my only way to regain control
