  • The Rock Cycle
  • Good morning class! Today, we'll be talking about The Rock Cycle!
  • Wow! That sounds very interesting! Sounds like Rock Music!
  • Does this mean we'll be cycling on a rock bicycle?
  • No, David... Anyways, The Rock Cycle starts when MAGMA cools and forms the IGNEOUS rock. Afterwards, agents of erosion and weathering break the IGNEOUS rock into SEDIMENTS, which rest on the ocean bed. This is called DEPOSITION. Layers will then be formed underground and cement the SEDIMENTS together to form the SEDIMENTARY rock! Afterwards, great heat and pressure on the SEDIMENTARY rock compress and transform it into METAMORPHIC rock. The Rock Cycle takes millions of years to complete and it is endless!
