- A POSTMAN approaches the McCallister’s house with a small package in hand, passing SAM, 6 years old, pressing his face against the inside of the window in anticipation of the delivery. SAM leaves the window in excitement and...
- POV - Setup 5
- ...runs from the lounge and...
- MS (Low Angle) - - Setup 6
- ...through to the side door in the kitchen, avoiding any obstacles along the way.
- LS - Setup 7
- He presses his face against the letter box waiting for the package to be pushed through.
- MS > MCU (Low Angle) - Setup 6
- The Postman turns the corner and posts the gift.
- One of the obstacles that he avoided along his journey through the kitchen was his MOTHER, mid30’s, ironing a large bed sheet. She's curious by his excitement.
- SAM turns towards her with the package in hand. His head is down, fully focused on removing a handwritten note from his pocket whilst keeping hold of the gift.
- SAM's MOTHER's hopes are piqued.

- He lightly clears his throat before proceeding to move slowly towards her reading the note.
- MCU > CU - Setup 8
- SAM is being helped by his MOTHER as he does his homework. SAM (VO): "For helping me with my homework..."
- MCU > CU - Setup 6
- SAM leans next to a window as his MOTHER reads to him. SAM (VO): "...and reading me stories..."
- CU - Setup 8
- The MOTHER plays with small football action figures and a tiny football alongside SAM. SAM (VO): "...and playing with me."
- MS (Slight High Angle) - Setup 12
- FLASHBACK
- SAM: "I just wanted to say..."
- His MOTHER begins to well up, proudly taking in her Son’s words. SAM: "I just wanted to say..." She wipes clear a loose tear.
- SAM (cont'd): "...thank you, Dad."
- He's happy with these words and dashes off to the lounge. SAM's MOTHER immediately stops welling up. She's now annoyed.

- WIDE TWO SHOT - Setup 13
- WIDE TWO SHOT - Setup 13
- She peers around the doorway to see SAM present the gift to her football watching husband (SAM’s FATHER, late30’s). They embrace with enthusiasm.
- CU - Setup 14
- A thought has popped into her head. She smiles wryly.
- Cont... Setup 14
- SAM and his FATHER are now sat on the couch half watching football. The FATHER attempts to open the package.
- Within moments a large sheet is tossed over them from the doorway. They freeze.
- A personalized wine glass (’Tonight’s forecast in Ellen’s house, 99% chance of wine’) sits on a kitchen work surface before being picked up by the MOTHER.
