- The irony of the story is that each of the 3 main characters thought that the other 2 were using MutiVacs data to fight the war, but each was using their own intuition to win the war, and they were all successful.
- An Ironic Short Story
- The location is underground, after Earth has won a war again Deneb. Most are praising MultiVac, a computer for winning the war. But the 3 main characters : Henderson, Swift, and Jablonsky know differently. They begin to discuss what really won the war.
- Falling Action: Winding Down

- Based on the intuition used by each Henderson, Swift and Jab..., the Ear won the war. All three characters thought they it was their actions alone won the war.
- The main characters each discuss when they thought all was lost.They each decided that the data that was provided by Multivac was not reliable, so they each followed their own intuition. Swift even flipped a coin to determine what to do in battle.
- Henderson, Swift, and Jab.... are conflicted because they know what won the war. The conflict is:what really won the war, computer vs.fate/intuition. They discuss how they also helped to win the war.
