  • I don't care for this, where is my dear Arthur?
  • Oh my beautiful son.
  • your beloved son?
  • Ah yes, my beloved son you're here!
  • If you fail to give me a male heir I will seek annulment
  • The time will come my dear..
  • King Henry VIII was born on the 28th of June, 1491 in Greenwich, London. He was the 2nd son of Henry VII the king of England, making him 2nd in line to the throne. Growing up Henry rarely got attention from his father as Henry VII was always training and teaching his eldest son, Arthur Prince of Wales because he would succeed the throne after his father.
  • I am sorry Your Majesty, But I will not allow you to go through with this annulment. It would be Unholy.
  • If you don't get me this divorce, I will split England from your rule and start my own!
  • In 1502, when Henry was 11, his brother Prince Arthur passed away from sweating sickness. This now meant that Henry would succeed the throne after his father passed away. In 1509 Henry's father died of Tuberculosis and at the age of 17 Henry became the King of England.
  • Yes my love, it is.
  • How great is it to be in charge!?
  • In 1509 Henry's father died of Tuberculosis and at the age of 17 Henry became the King of England. He was forced to marry his brother's widow, Catherine of Aragon. The two had many children together, although most didn't make it past infantry except for one girl, Mary I . Catherine after having so many children was not able to give desperate Henry a male heir to pass on his name and started seeking for an annulment.
  • GOD SAVE THE KING! GOD SAVE THE KING!
  • I stand here in-front of you all to declare a bible, written in english, for you and all the people of England!
  • At the time of the English Reformation, England was under the Roman Catholic Church, and the Pope was in charge. King Henry VIII went to the Pope seeking an annulment from Catherine. The Pope denied his request. This made Henry furious and he even threatened to separate England from his church.
  • The Pope would not agree, so Henry and his advisors split England from the rule of the Roman Catholic Church and created the Anglican Church, formerly known as the Church of England. Henry was now the head of the church, making any other sovereign following him Supreme Governor of the Church of England and Defender of the faith. He was now able to make his own decisions starting with his divorce from Catherine and remarriage to his true love, Anne Boleyn.
  • Henry's actions formed the Church of England and its values. Before the 1530's, it was forbidden to produce a bible in english. The word of God was controlled by those who could read and understand Latin. In 1538, Henry authorised an english translation of the bible, giving the people of England direct access to the word of God. This helped many correctly understand the values, traditionals and word of the lord in their own language.
