The scene opens in an English country alehouse. A nobleman meets a drunken beggar, Christopher Sly.
Chris Sly awakens in the noblemen's bedroom and is surprised. At first he denies being a nobleman, but then begins to act like one.
Lucentio arives and is accompied by his servent Tranio
Baptisa Minola arrives with his two daughters , Kathrine and Bianca and two suitors for Bianca, Germio and Hortensio
Petruchio shows up to his freind, Hortensio house
Baptisa intervenes in a fight with Kate and Bianca
Petruchio arrives at Baptista's home with many suitors and tutors and asks for Kate's hand in marriage..
Petruchio's first meeting with Kate causes many sparks leading into many arguments of words. He proclaims himself the perfect match for Kate.
In Baptista's garden, the suitors begin their attempts towards Bianca. Lucentio/Cambio secretly tells Bianca who he is during a tutor session. She likes his attention towards her.
Everyone gathers for the wedding of Kate and Petruchio - except Petruchio who arrives late, making Kate feel humiliated. He arrives dressed outrageously, and takes Kate away as the master of his wife.
The journey to Petruchio's home was long. The couple arrives dirty, tired, cold, and hungry. He plans to starve Kate into submission. He states that every time he does this it is out of love.
The other suitors give up on Bianca, when then catch her kissing Lucentio/Cambio.
Petruchio announces to Kate that they will return to Padua for her sister's wedding. Her temper is still there, which causes her getting a new dress for the wedding. On the road, they run into Vincentio who is on his way to Padua to check on his son. Kate and Petruchio still have disagreements about the sun & moon, until Kate finally agrees with him.
Lucentio & Bianca head to the church and get married. Petruchio demands a kiss from Kate, who at first hesitates, but then agrees. Vincentio is rescued by his son, who is now married.
At the wedding feast, Petruchio challenges the other newly married husbands to see whose wife is the most obedient - Kate indeed listens to her husband's wishes.
The story combines three stories of deception with twists and turns.
