- In chapter seven Brodie thought that Otis was not dead at all and he was going to come back to do something. Brodie heard his dad playing red river valley ion his guitar. Then Brodie's dad heard that the TV had an accident all over so he turned it on. Then Brodie's mom came upstairs so, Brodie faked being asleep. Shortly after he fell asleep for real and woke back up in the morning. Brodie decided to go to the river to see if he could find things from Pauline. There he found Otis's mom.
- In chapter eight when Otis's mom leaves Brodie tries to find the flip-flop that the cops didn't find. Once he finds the flip-flop he starts heading home. Soon after he starts heading home Hannah and Batman see him and ask how he is doing. Hannah then finishes her breakfast and said here let me walk you home. After that Hannah does not find the flip-flop and Brodie makes his way home. When he gets home he finds a note that says "TELL".
- Brodie was wondering who knew that he was the one that accidentally pushed them off the rock. When he arrived home, he went upstairs so that nobody knew he was out. At first, he thought that Odis was the one that wrote the note. In the newspaper, there was an article about the incident. It said that Otis was the person that accidentally pushed Pauline off the rock. The article did not describe him as a good person, and it made many people dislike him.
