Once upon a time there were two girls, the daughters of a good and poor widow who lived in a little house in the woods.
One winter afternoon, Snow White and Red Roses saw a bear outside in the snow, knocking on the door. Snow White opened the door and saw the bear.
The sisters let the bear in and he lay down in front of the fire. Snow White and the red rose shook the snow off the bear and they quickly became friends.
When summer came, the bear told them that he would go somewhere else for a while, to protect his treasure from an evil elf.
The girls encountered the elf several times that summer, and each time they rescued him from danger, the elf was ungrateful. one day they met the elf again and, as always, the elf was in danger. This time he was terrified that the bear would kill him. The elf begged the bear for mercy, telling him to eat the girls instead of him, but the bear paid no attention and killed the elf with a blow of his paw.
the bear became a handsome and charming prince, because it turned out that the goblin had bewitched the prince to steal his gold by turning him into a bear, but the curse was broken with the elf's death. Soon after, Snow White married the prince and Rose Red married her brother.
