- Well when the peace treaty was signed Spain gave Guam, and Puerto Rico to the U.S
- Okay I have one more question how did the Spanish-American War make the U.S an imperial power?
- The U.S became a global power after the defeat of a continental European power, Spain. It was a major military accomplishment.
