  • The Palestinian Refugee Crisis is the subject of today's documentary.
  • We've arrived at one of the Gaza Strip's refugee camps, the most densely populated Rafah Camp.
  • As you can see behind me, there are many Palestinian refugees here, estimated to be around 125,000.
  • So, what prompted your visit to this camp, and how long have you been here?
  • We are now going to have an interview with one of the people at these camps as to why they are here, and if they have family with them.
  • We're all here because we were all participants in the 1948 and 1967 wars, and we're all exiles.
  • Is that to say you've lived here your entire life?
  • Yes, I am a direct descendent of the first exiles who fled their homeland.
  • The UNWRA constructed several camps, of which the Rafah Camp is merely one of 68 in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip. The high number of refugees in the area is the reason for the big sum.
  • So, how many refugees are there, and how many came from other countries?
  • While there were only 711,000 refugees from the 1948 wars and 280,000 from the 1967 wars when we arrived, there are now roughly 5 million refugees in UNRWA-managed camps due to the length of time we've been here.
