- Edward the confessor who died. He was named Edward the confessor because his life was characterized by piety and religious belief. He had no son to leave England at the time and that's why the three kings wanted to rule England at the time
- Harold Godwinson was elected king by the people of England. William and Harold weren't very happy about that so they went to war
- Harold Godwinson believes that he should be king because Edward said to him that he deserves to be king because he is married to Edwards sister
- Duke William of Normandy ( northern France ) said that many years before king Edward died he promised me that i should be king
- Harold Hardrada believes her should be king because before Edward became king the land used to be ruled by Vikings
- Tostig Godwinson was kicked out of the country by his brother, Harold Godwinson because people weren't happy with him being the leader
- Harold won the battle by killing both of them
- This is the battle of Stamford bridge. Tostig Godwinson were angry that his brother kicked him out of the country after being crowned king, so he went to herald Hardrada, king or Norway to battle king Harold at the Stamford bridge
- king Harold was so happy after winning this battle but he heard that duke William was attacking from the south so he marched to meet duke William
