Storyboard Text

  • Prospero opens his castle up to one thousand people, here the people could forget about the Red Death and leave the outside world to care for itself.
  • Prospero believes he, the wealthy, and unaffected people can escape the Red Death, so he invites the people of his domain to a grand masquerade ball.
  • The guests are surprised by the rooms Prospero created. Each room was made up of different colors, and by far the most horrifying was the last room. This room was black with red windows and it struck fear upon whoever dared to enter. There was a great clock made of black wood that struck every hour and the dancers would stop to listen. This room was very disturbing and stayed away from.
  • As the party goes on a very strange masquerader comes through and gives everyone a weird feeling. He is tall and thin and looks as if he is prepared for the grave.
  • Prospero orders the strongest of men to capture this scary masquerader, but when they touched him there was nothing, no body, no figure, and they knew this was the Red Death.
  • Prospero reaches for the figure and falls for his death; the dancers try to subdue the intruder but they also start to fall. In the end the Red Death took over the country, despite Prospero's efforts to escape it.
