- Mother sacrifices it is very important because mothers provide a safe and supportive environment to their child mother also plays a role in guiding their child through their life and relationship as well as navigating their child's challenges of life mothers help their child to learn moralities and most importantly mother love for their children is way more powerful since a mother can kill and sacrifice for their children, and it expresses a deeper thematic message because motherhood role is associated with responsibilitiesand sacrifices and in need to by making painful choices in order ensure their child safety since we see it through the book how Mariam and Laila sacrificed their future and their needs just to raise the kids.
- Rasheed was involved in this matter because Laila has a baby out of marriage and it's shameful and punishable , she has to marry Rasheed in order keep the baby safe from Rasheed and the Taliban . it occurs in a time when the Taliban's are in control of the government , it occurs on the night of their wedding.
- “She knew that what she was doing was dishonorable. Dishonorable, disingenuous, and shameful. And spectacularly unfair to Mariam. But even though the baby inside her was no bigger than a mulberry, Laila already saw the sacrifices a mother had to make. Virtue was only the first” (Hosseini 218 ).
- She sees that Laila is, in fact, aware of her shameful sacrifice to Mariam though Laila had to make that choice of marrying Rasheed as she is left with no other choice as Laila already saw what extent of sacrifices a mother can make,and because of the circumstances of the outside world. That Laila is living right now has pushed her to make the hard decision of her needs before her child, and there we see the beginning motherhood, and sacrifices. that Laila has to make for her child to thrive and live on, as that only thing that will matter to her because a mother love and sacrifices are incomparable, and mothers often meet with painful choices just for their sake of their child. and here we can see that even though fetus is no bigger than a mulberry yetwe still see Laila overthinking the sacrifices she has to face as it her responsibility of dealing with complexities of being a mother in this society.
