  • I'm so glad physics class is over. Honestly, repeating lessons about mechanics and motions are becoming boring because they seem like common sense now.
  • I think it's good that it's becoming common sense. Because a lot of things in our lives were only made possible because of understanding those concepts. They have a lot of applications, we just don't notice because, as you said, they're becoming common sense.
  • Oh! Well that makes sense. I mean like, we're aware that simple activities we do like walking on the road, pushing and pulling objects, and simply standing incorporates concepts of mechanics. They must also have large-scale applications as well, right?
  • Yes! One example is how the 1st law of motion made it possible for scientists to create rockets and every other device that need the rush of gas for ignition.
  • Oh! And remember our lesson in Science about Biomechanics in the field of medicine? I really thought it's a great sustainable innovation towards human health and well-being. Who knew our bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments are affected by specific forces. Learning medicine and physics... I suddenly don't want to become a doctor.
  • And let's not forget about how helicopters create lifting power by pushing the air down, and how airplanes apply force on the air in the opposite to any force they need when flying.
  • Let's not forget to mention friction as well. Remember when I had to climb up a ladder to get the materials in one of the tall shelves in the Chemistry lab? I would have gained broken bones if friction didn't exist that time.
  • Dude, friction is also considered in designing buildings. It's a pretty important concept for building the frames of infrastructures.
  • Wow, mechanics is indeed incorporated in industrial matters, innovation, and even infrastructure. If you don't want to become a doctor, then how about an engineer?
  • I only discovered these things while writing my research paper on friction-joints of buildings and earthquake resistance.
  • Oh yeah, I remember your presentation about it. I commend your research on the topic, really. It may be one step froward among many more needed for achieving a sustainable community, but it's a step forward, nonetheless.
  • Of course! We aren't learning about mechanics for nothing.
