- Let's discuss the history of emotional support dogs. Therising mental health crisis in the United States and around the world has leadto an increasing amount of persons to have emotional support animals and psychiatricservice dogs. Many research studies have recognized the positive effects of keepingpets to treat mental and physical conditions, as they provide exceptional companionship.Patients report that the caring they feel from these animals is life changingand has improved their mental wellbeing. Their ability to gauge feelings withoutexpectation or judgement is highly valuable. Owners of pets are less likely tosuffer from depression and generally live longer. More generally, dog ownershiphas a plethora of physiological impacts. Exercising by walking said pets increaseslevels of serotonin and dopamine, promoting relaxation. Moreover, the care neededfor a pet can bring structure to the day.

- However, regulations surrounding emotional support dogs are somewhat lackluster. While the law recognizes trained support dogs, registries for emotional support dogs are fraudulent and unprotected by the law. Our solution, which relies on robotics and not on living creatures, has the potential to solve these legal issues.
