  • The conditions are terrible! No medicine is available, and the sick patients are dying on the floor!
  • Catherine and the sisters were asked to run a temporary hospital on Townsend Street near Baggot street. The condition was awful, not enough staff or medicine and many sisters became ill, and some, like Sister Mary Teresa, died from their service. Catherine was heartbroken at Sister Mary Teresa’s death, but she encouraged her community to keep helping others.
