Hello, I'm a new farmer. Can you give me tips on how to propagate fruit-bearing plants?
Sure, my sugested one way on how to propagate plants is grafting. First is choose 2 plants to graft like egg plant and tomato, then make vertical incisions on the eggplant's stem which will be the rootstock. If the tomato will be the scion cut the bottom into a diagonal line or a straight line, best is to do the V-CUT. Cut the rootstock 3-inches deep from the top to bottom.
Second, is the preparation of the scion, if you dont know how to do the V-CUT, you can just cut it diagonally, but I reccomened the V-CUT. Third is connecting the scion to the root stock, do it carefully you won't want to damage the plant and fail.
If I damage it, will it die?
It will, but there can be other propagating methods to save it. The advantages and benefits of grafting are it lets you have a 3 in 1 plant which allows you to have more space in the farm or garden. It prevents the hassle of replanting, it starts fruiting earlier, it is also disease resistant, and it is also highly productive.
So what is the next step?
Fourth would be securing the graft. Use a rope to secure it or anything sturdy to hold it in place. Fifth is protecting the graft, use a plastic to cover it and protect it. Last is securing the plastic, use strong tape like masking tape to secure it to avoid the plastice from loosening up and fall off.
Thank you for the tips, i really appriciate it. I learned alot, thank you.
