- Narrator’s Note: Erasmus Darwin, grandfather of Charles Darwin, speculated that all life had a common origin and evolved gradually over time.

- Animals evolve by striving! They change their characteristics by using or not using certain features. Those changes are then passed on to their offspring.
- Narrator’s Note: Lamarck is famous for his theory of “inheritance of acquired characteristics,” where organisms develop traits based on use, and those traits are passed on to the next generation.

- Whether by use or adaptation, one thing is for sure: life will keep reaching higher!
- So, it’s chaos or order, adaptation or striving—at least we agree on one thing: life is always evolving!
- And gradual changes drive it all—who knows where it’ll lead?
